President Sirisena launches several new projects

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena donated Rs. 1 million, Rs. 2 million and Rs. 2.5million to 69 families with twins, triplets and quintuplets at the President’s House yesterday for the future welfare of these children.

Marking Universal Children’s Day 2019, President Sirisena established a new trust fund for children in need of help due to various reasons and a new lottery named ‘Diri Daru Sampatha’ – introduced to raise funds for this project.

The first ticket introduced by the National Lottery Board (NLB) was sold to President Sirisena who also donated essential equipment to 12 hospitals in remote areas through the President’s Fund.

Parallel to these national programmes, a project titled ‘Janadipathi Seva Prasadani’ was also held by the staff of President’s Office yesterday, to express their gratitude to the President.

Secretary to the President Udaya R. Seneviratne, presented a felicitation award to the President in appreciation of the service rendered to the country and its citizens during the last five years, including the launch of successful public welfare projects.

First Lady Jayanthi Sirisena, North Central Province Governor Sarath Ekanayake and staff of the President’s Office participated at this occasion.
