Travel ban on Swiss Embassy employee extended

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (09) extended the travel ban imposed on the female employee attached to the Switzerland Embassy in Colombo, who was allegedly detained and threatened by unknown persons last month, until 12 December.

The travel ban was imposed on the said employee by the Colombo Chief Magistrate on 03 December.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Court that it recorded a statement for 9-hours from her last evening (08) until early this morning (09). The CID is to record another statement from her this evening.

She has also requested to refer her to a female Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) for medical report.

Officers attached to the CID commenced investigations pertaining to the incident after a complaint was made over an incident where a female employee attached to the Switzerland Embassy in Colombo was allegedly detained against her will on the street and threatened at length in an attempt to pressure her into releasing information.
