Inmate who shot another prisoner transferred

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – An inmate who initiated a shooting inside the Wariyapola remand prison premises has been transferred to Bogambara prison.

Prison sources said he was initially sent to the Batticaloa Prison before being transferred to Bogambara.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal a senior official of the Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms said an investigative report which aims to uncover how the inmate in question obtained a firearm, will be submitted by prison intelligence today.

The inmate shot another prisoner within the Wariyapola prison premises on Friday.

The injured prisoner is currently receiving treatment at the Kurunegala Teaching hospital.

It has been revealed that a micro pistol was used during the clash between the two prisoners who were convicted of Narcotics related crimes.
