Govt. to ban imports of several food items-Vidura

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The government has directed its attention towards banning the importation of several food items including dried fruits.

When inquired by a prominent online news portal, the State Minister of Agriculture Vidura Wickramanayaka said measures will be taken to ban the importation of several food items which can be produced locally.

He attributed the move as part of measures to support domestic farmers. He added the government intends on increasing domestic production systematically.
