Novel corona 2019 test costs Rs.30,000

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Medical Research Institute says the estimated cost to carry-out the novel corona 2019 test in Sri Lanka, is approximately Rs. 30,000.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal , the Director of the Medical Research Institute, Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara however noted that the government has made provisions to carry-out the tests without any additional charges from those suspected to have contracted the virus.

He said the Medical Research Institute has tested samples of 20 individuals to detect the possible contraction of the deadly coronavirus, thus far.

The Director of the Medical Research Institute said only India and Sri Lanka have the capacity to conduct the novel corona 2019 test, in the region.

At least 258 persons have been killed thus far from the virus with 11,000 reported cases in China alone.
