Former Minister Rishad denies allegations levelled against his brother [VIDEO]

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Denying allegations levelled against his family, Leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen today (15) vouched that neither him nor his family members have connection with the Easter Sunday bombings or any other terrorist activity.

Making a special statement, the former Minister stated that it is their responsibility to support the investigations carried out by the Authorities and that his brother will also assist in the investigations.

Former Minister stressed that since the Easter Sunday bombings, rival political factions have been continuously making various baseless allegations linking him to bombings, yet no evidence have been found in investigations conducted by the Investigations Committee comprising of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), and Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau (CFIB), which likewise informed to Parliament in a letter sent by the Acing Inspector General of Police (IGP) Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) C. D. Wickramaratne.

Therefore, accusations levelled against him and his family were unfounded, Bathiudeen said, adding that rival political factions who sought his political support have been making such baseless allegations, and that he will take legal action against the manner in which his brother was arrested.
