PS5 “Spider-Man 2” rumoured for holiday 2021
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – So far there have been very few games confirmed for the next generation of consoles. Third party titles like “Outriders,” “Watch Dogs: Legion,” “Dying Light 2,” “Cyberpunk 2077,” “Gods & Monsters,” “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum,” and the long-running “Warframe” are all confirmed to be coming to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
In terms of exclusives though there’s not much. Xbox SX has “Halo Infinite” and “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II” and the promise of plenty of titles from their recently acquired studios – titles that should hopefully be announced in coming months.
The delay of “The Last of Us Part II” to an unannounced date has fuelled speculation it will be the PS5’s big launch title alongside “Godfall,” the “Gothic” remake and a remaster of “Demon’s Souls” from Bluepoint Studios (who did the “Shadow of the Colossus” and “Uncharted” trilogy remasters).
What lies beyond that though remains speculative, even as sequels to the biggest PS4 success stories like “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” “God of War” and “Horizon: Zero Dawn” seem a given (except “Uncharted” which has finished).
A now-deleted Reddit post (via The Game Post & Tom’s Guide) has been added to the mix with apparent details on that “Spider-Man” sequel, saying the follow-up to Insomniac Games’ acclaimed 2018 hit is targeting a Holiday 2021 release – a three year gap from the release of the first.
The report, which remains a rumor for now but has been picked up by many legit gaming news outlets, suggests the game will include new mechanics such as a dynamic weather system with realistic climate physics, there’s also a “larger focus on smaller, more dynamic side missions that would allow Spider-Man to help everyday people (such as construction workers and doctors) in danger”.
The new game will also reportedly include the black symbiote suit which will apparently make Spider-Man more powerful and fluid, and the suit will carry its own skill tree. Miles Morales will play a larger role, Peter will reportedly return to The Daily Bugle as a photographer, Norman Osborn seems to be the main villain this time out, while Morbius, Carnage and Wraith are expected to show up.
Both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 are targeting Holiday 2020 releases, and with E3 2020 cancelled it is likely game announcements and further details on both consoles will be revealed in coming weeks.
