All cinema halls to reopen on Saturday 27th June

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Cultural Affairs says all cinema halls will reopen to the public on Saturday the 27th of June.

Secretary to the Ministry Bandula Harischandra said cinema halls have been granted approval to reopen under strict healthcare and safety guidelines. All cinema halls will be subjected to disinfection prior to opening.

The Ministry Secretary further stated that healthcare guidelines which must be followed by all cinema hall patrons will also be issued in the near future.

Cinema halls across the island were closed on the 14th of March, as a mitigation measure to prevent the unhindered spread of COVID-19 in the island.

Accordingly cinema halls have remained closed for over three months, while around 100 backlogged movies are yet to be screened.
