Attack on Kanjipani’s father: more arrested

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Three more suspects have been arrested over assaulting and injuring the father of underworld figure ‘Kanjipani Imran’.

Two suspects involved in the assault and an individual who issued directives for the assault were arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division in Maligawatte last evening.

Three knives and a three-wheeler were also seized by Police during the arrest.

The suspects, between the ages of 17 and 27 are residents of Madampitiya, Ganemulla and Grandpas.

Police said the trio has been handed over to the Maligawatte Police for further investigations.

The first suspect arrested over the assault was produced before Court and was ordered to be detained and questioned for 48 hours by the Hulftsdorp Magistrates Court.

Police said the attack on Kanjipani Imran’s father was carried out in the vicinity of Saddharma Mawatha, Maligawatta, by three persons who arrived in a three-wheeler, on Wednesday evening.

Kanjipani Imran’s father is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Further investigations are being carried out by the Maligawatta Police.
