COVID-19 recoveries increase to 1,711

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Another 33 individuals who contracted COVID-19 have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the number of persons who recovered from COVID-19 has increased to 1,711.

Accordingly, nine COVID-19 patients were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, eight each from the Kattankudy Base Hospital and the Teldeniya base Hospital and four from the Hambantota District General Hospital.

Two persons receiving treatment at the Welikanda Base Hospital and one individual each receiving treatment at the Iranawila hospital and the Minuwangoda Base Hospital were also discharged during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile five new COVID-19 patients were detected in the country, yesterday, raising the total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Sri Lanka to 2,042.

The Department of Government Information said two returnees from Bangladesh and three individuals who arrived from Pakistan recently, tested positive for COVID-19, yesterday.

752 persons who returned from overseas recently have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country, while 904 Navy personnel have also contracted the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

320 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

49 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under medical observation.
