PM calls for a strong public mandate

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has requested the public to grant the government a stronger public mandate than that received at the Presidential Election.

Issuing a statement the Prime Minister said petty political groups should not be vested power, adding that an environment where peace and coexistence, that existed several years ago, should be reintroduced.

Premier Rajapaksa added petty racism and extortionist politics should be shunned.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa noted that the government will not allow any state sector worker to be arrested without any crime or evidence.

The Prime Minister claimed that the former government engaged in such acts during its term, with members of the then Opposition arrested arbitrarily.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa also claimed that the funds for the Hambantota Port must be inquired, stating that that there is no trace of the funds of the agreement.
