Key suspect in Thajudeen’s murder case passes away

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – A key suspect in the Wasim Thajudeen murder case, Ex- Chief Judicial Medical Officer of Colombo, Prof. Ananda Samarasekara had passed away, the Attorney General’s Department informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate yesterday.

Appearing in the Court, Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dilan Ratnayake informed the Magistrate that the other suspect former Senior DIG Aunara Senanayake was undergoing treatment in the hospital and was in a critical condition.

Earlier, the Colombo High Court served an indictment on former DIG Senanayake for allegedly fabricating and concealing evidence in the case of rugby player Thajudeen’s murder.

After listening to the submissions made by the DSG, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to present a report with regard to the two suspects on November 19.

During the earlier proceedings, the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) informed the court that it had concluded the investigation on former Chief JMO Prof Samarasekara and he was found guilty to three out of five charges filed against him.
