Mervin Silva did not lodge a complaint on white van – CID

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court was told by the CID ,that former Minister Mervin Silva did not lodge a complaint against former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the ‘white van abductions’. Silva was present at the Court  day before yesterday (Nov 11)

This was revealed when a Habes corpus filed by relatives of three missing persons was taken up for hearing by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

The CID said, that Silva had only tendered a letter on the alleged abductions but  not made  a complaint. The The case was fixed to be heard again on January 26, 2016.

Attorney General also confirmed this fact.

Silva visited the CID in January after the Rajapaksa regime was toppled, and then came out with a startling news to the media that he lodged a complaint against Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Bail Rajapaksa and explained that he had informed the CID about the abductions.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued notice to Silva on August 25 this year regarding the   habeas corpus.

The Magistrate ordered the CID to submit the documents handed over by Silva. The court will then decide if Silva will be called as a witness in the case, the Magistrate further directed.
