Proposal to Increase Fine and Imprisonment for Buses without Route Licence

The National Transport Commission says that the fine imposed at present for buses plying without route licence is Rs 10,000 or one year imprisonment. This amount is not proportionate to revenue  earned by these bus owners. Hence NTC has decided to increase the fine to 200.000 or 10 years  imprisonment. Steps have been taken to recommend  necessary amendments to the relevant authorities.

Chairman to the Commission , M.A.P. Hemachandra said that more raids will be made to detect buses plying on important routs without route permit.
