The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says the 2nd and 3rd phases of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant are 100% operative.
Issuing a statement the Ministry said, accordingly 600 megawatts will be added to the National Power Grid.
Subject Minister, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said power cuts experienced since Sunday have been suspended as from last evening.
The Minister also expressed his sincere apologies to the public for the power cuts experienced over the past few days.
He said the matter will be brought up in Parliament on the 23rd of February, while recommendations to prevent such occurrences will also be tabled.
Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Anura Wijepala said under the present situation there will be no further interruptions to the power supply.
However he added the power grid will continue to be under observation in its current state today and tomorrow.
