An attempt by underworld goons to frame a Doctor in Ella for rape has been foiled. The suspects had taken a contract for 200,000 rupees to discredit the Doctor and had offered a mother of two 25,000 rupees to accuse the Doctor of rape.
The thugs had showed the doctor to the woman who had then gone to visit the Doctor on the grounds of a checkup, however sensing something being out of place and because of suspicions that arose about the woman the doctor then took her to the Bandarawela Police where she confessed and outlined the plan set up by the goons.
The Police apprehended the suspects at a Hotel in the Ella region where they were scheduled to pick up the woman.
