The SLFP is divided in to pro-Maithripala Sirisena and the pro-Mahinda Rajapaksa camps. Mahinda Rajapaksa supports the ‘Joint Opposition’.
To resolve this issue, Minister John Seneviratne recently said, that discussions were underway to make Gotabaya Rajapaksa the ‘second leader’ of the SLFP to prevent the party from breaking up.
Speaking at an event on Sunday Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said that the new government has taken the steps to stop the looting of the country.
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said, that she will not be able to stay in the government if former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is appointed to important position in the SLFP as some party stalwarts have suggested.
