No Place for Communalism in Srilanka- President

Government Parliamentary group meeting was convened under the Chairman ship of President to discuss about the No Confidence motion against the Finance Minister, Ravi Karunanayake.

During this discussion UNP Member of Parliament , Mujibur Rahman brought to the notice of the President and other Government top personnel,  that there is wide spread campaign being carried out in the country against Muslims. Further he said, due to Mahinda Rajapaksa acted against the Minority, Muslims and Tamils, his Government was defeated . The minorities in the country got together along with the majority and brought this government to power. Hence, steps should  be taken to arrest this situation, he appealed.

In response , the President categorically stated, that he won’t allow communalism to raise its head either  against Muslims / Tamils or any other ethnic group in Srilanka .
