Vass Gunawardana Produced Court Today

Six suspects including Former DIG Vaas Gunawardena and his son Ravindu Gunawardena were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court for committing the murder of businessman Mohamed Shiyam in 2013.

A request was made to refrain from releasing the defendants on bail when the case was taken up on the 3rd of this month.

Accordingly, the suspects were remanded by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court till today.

Six suspects including former DIG Vass Gunawardena arrested and remanded for the alleged possession of firearms will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today(15).

The son of former DIG Vaas Gunawardena is also among those remanded for allegedly being in possession of the firearms.
