Joint Opposition Welcomes New Governor

Several leading lights of the Joint Opposition yesterday expressed their deep appreciation and approval on the appointment of a renowned economist in the calibre of Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Among them were former Ministers D.E.W. Gunasekera, Prof. Tissa Vitharana and parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara.

Dr. Coomaraswamy was a well known person  and most of them  they had participated in economic debates and discussions together.

Dr. Coomaraswamy had unquestionable talents in the field of economics and he was an internationally acclaimed economist, he added.

Gunasekera said as such they appreciated the action taken by President Maithripala Sirisena to appoint Dr. Coomaraswamy as the Central Bank Governor.
