Arjun Mahendran Spearheads in 5 Year Development Plan

Former Central Bank Governor, Arjun Mahendran accompanied Wickremesinghe in his recent Singapore visit that ended yesterday.

The government has decided to appoint former Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran to head the five-year plan to generate one million employment opportunities.

An internationally-acclaimed economist, Mahendran will assist in implementing the plan by heads of several state and private sector institutions.

All development efforts of the government are incorporated in this plan.

Included in the plan will be the ETCA with India, a FTZ with Singapore, an economic pact with China and other international agreements.
