Cigarette Price Hike by Rs 5

President Maithreepala  Siresena and Minister of Health Rajitha Senarathna sought  cabinet approval to increase Tax on Tobacco. The cabinet has appointed a  subcommittee to look into all connected issues and report back to cabinet. Now the cabinet sub committee has submitted it’s recommendation to increase Cigarette Price by Rs 5 of all varieties and 15 % increase on VAT. A cabinet paper incorporating Rs 5 price hike and  15 % VAT increase on Tobacco will be submitted on 27^th September 2016.
