Drought in Five Provinces

Disaster Management Center has announced caviar drought has experienced in five Provinces of Srilanka. People was struggling to find drinking water. North Central Province is the worst affected Province, where in Polonnaruwa 34,000 people are struggling without drinking water. Monaragala, Ampara, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, and Hambantota people are badly affected by this drought.
People in this areas 50 -100 Litters water but they were given only 1 bucket of water.
Metrological Department said rainfall has fallen from 10 -20 % and the temperature has increased by 12 degrees.  Further, they said this drought situation will continue for a week.  Water resources board has advised consumers to use water economically. Disaster Management centre has announced telephone number “117” to contact and obtain drinking water.
