Ruling on Tiran Fundamental Rights Petition to be Announced Today

 The Supreme Court is due to announce its decision on if a case can be filed at the Colombo High Court against Former MP Tiran Alles when a Fundamental Rights petition has been filed by him calling for an order against the prevention of his arrest.
The Supreme Court is due to announce its decision following an inquiry made by the Colombo High Court over an explanation into the order of the Fundamental Rights petition.
A case was filed by the Attorney General against Former MP Tiran Alles in connection with  the misuse of 200 million rupees given to the Reconstruction and Development Agency in order to provide relief to those affected by the Tsunami in the North-Eastern Province.
Accordingly, UPFA MP Tiran Alles filed a Fundamental Rights petition against the case calling for the prevention of his arrest.
However, the Attorney general proceeded to file a case against Former MP Tiran Alles under 7 indictments pertaining to the misuse of funds at the RADA institute.
The Attorney representing Former MP Alles said  that it is against the law to file a case against an individual during a Supreme Court ruling.
