COPE Meets Today to Discuss Treasury Bond Report

The Committee on Public Enterprises or COPE says the  report  of the controversial Treasury bond issue has already been completed  and  given for translations in other two languages. The report will be tabled in Parliament as soon as the translations are completed.
The COPE report was initially due to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow. However the COPE Chairman said if the report is not tabled tomorrow it will be tabled within the week.
When Committee Chairman Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti was questioned whether two reports will be tabled ? he  responded   by saying  that a majority have consented to the content compiled in the report, while a few members are opposed to certain content in the report and have called for amendments.
COPE member Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardene  expressed his  dissatisfaction about the COPE report  drafted  and finalised  on the Treasury bond issue.
He said the Committee will convene today to hold discussions on the report.
MP Jayawardene said they disagreed with a number of aspects cited in the report and deemed the report unsatisfactory.
