Gammanpila Over Seas Travel Application to be Decided on 9th Nov 2016
When the case in connection with the false acquisition of shares with the use of a forged attorney’s license of an Australian citizen was taken for inquiry today, Sydney Jayasinghe was handed over indictments.
Colombo High Court judge AAR Heiyanthuduwa released Sydney Jayasinghe on a 100,000 rupee cash bail and two surety bails of 500,000 rupees each.
United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila is another defendant in the case.
MP Gammanpila was arrested on the 18th of June, on charges of misusing an Attorney permit in order to trade shares belonging to an Australian national.
MP Gammanpila has also received indictments over the case.
Gammanpila today sought Court approval to travel to India from 21st to the 24th of November and to attend a function in Japan from the 9th to 20th of December.
However the State Counsel raised opposition to allowing MP Gammanpila travel overseas stating he did not receive the invitation yet.
Accordingly the Colombo High Court announced that a decision on granting approval for MP Udaya Gammanpila to travel overseas will be made known on the 9th of November.
The Colombo High Court earlier last month granted bail to MP Gammanpila in connection with the case connected to the illegal sale of shares belonging to an Australian national.
