Welgama’s Revision Application in HC Today

MP Kumara Welgama  is charged with appointing LA Wimalaratne as the Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, a post the Bribery Commission said does not exist. He is also charged with incurring losses to the government amounting to 3 million rupees by violating Article 70 of the Bribery Act.

Kumara Welgama   has filed a  revision petition in the Colombo High Court. claiming the charges levelled by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against him are illegal.

High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardene ordered the Direct General of the Bribery Commission and the Attorney General to produce submissions in court pertaining to the charges.

The case will be heard at the Colombo High Court today .
