Sri Lanka’s Director General of Health Service Palitha Appointed WHO South East Asia Coordinator

Sri Lanka’s Director General of Health Service, Dr. Palitha Mahipala, has been appointed as the World Health Organisation (WHO) South East Asia Coordinator on non-communicable diseases, environmental health and migrant health.  He is expected to assume duties in the new position at the WHO South East Asia Regional Office in New Delhi tomorrow (16) and he will oversee all 11 countries in the region. Mahipala, who was appointed as the Director General of Health Services in 2011, has more than 30 years experience in the field.
