Ravi Released 250 Vehicles causing Rs. 15 b loss to the State – Mahindananda

UPFA Member of Parliament   Mahindananda Aluthgamage alleged in parliament yesterday (08), that  customs has emerged as one of the worst corrupt institutions in the country. He charged that Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake had submitted a cabinet paper to release 250 vehicles despite a court order, adding that those vehicles were now being sold.
Noting that the Customs imposed levy on a Montero jeep is a mere Rs. 600,000, Aluthgamage went on to say that it is a daylight robbery.
Losses to the Customs from above  vehicle clearance amounts to Rs. 15 billion .
Speaking further at the debate on the Customs Ordinance, he added that a complaint to the FCID against this fraud has proved futile .
