Central Provincial Council Health Ministry Warns Spreading of H1N1 Virus

H1N1 virus is spreading like wild fire in  the Central Province. Seventeen (17)  H1N1 virus infected patients died during the year, which includes 2 pregnant women. Another 150  were indentified as positive to H1N1 virus. Under these circumstances Central Provincial Council Health Ministry has issued a warning  to public to be cautious
Health officials  said to have reported  that  there aren’t enough protective face masks available for the health personnel handling the patients to use.
Pregnant mothers, children under the age of two years, elders  and  individuals with low immunity are advised to be  cautious.
Consultant Epidemiologist, Dr. Samitha Ginige says that the viral fever epidemic in sri lanka has been identified as H1N1 influenza.
He added that  primary symptoms of the disease are cold, fever and cough.
