JVP Calls Change on Minimum Age to Vote

According to the national voter register act of 1980, the minimum age for voting is 18 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday JVP MP Bimal Ratnayake requested an amendment to the national voter register act of 1980 number 44 adding that the youth in this country must be granted the right to vote.
The JVP MP has called the government to take  a clear decision in respect of  the minimum age for eligibility to vote.
