Helmet and Trees as Wedding Gift?

It has been the Hindu tradition to give a gift to those, who attended the wedding at the end of the wedding. Different people give different gifts according to their position.

In a recent wedding held in Uttar Pradesh, parents of the bride gave a helmet and a tree to plant to each and every one who attended the wedding. In this manner more than one thousand helmets and trees were given as gift.
