Over 2000 Army Deserters Not Surrendered During General Amnesty Period Arrested

Army spokesman Major General Roshan Seneviratne said, that 2023 Army deserters, who have failed to make use of the general amnesty period to get their services legally discharged were arrested during a search operation carried out between 24 th November and 1 st December 2017.

Three army officers, two cadet officers and 2019 soldiers were among the arrested. During the same search operation, one army woman officer and 78 women soldiers were also arrested. Disciplinary action is being taken against those arrested, he concluded.
