Aeroflot to resume flights to Sri Lanka from October 9

(FASTNEWS |  RUSSIA) – Russian Airlines Aeroflot will resume flights to Sri Lanka from October 9. Ports,Shipping and Civil Aviation Minister Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva expressed his gratitude on behalf of Sri Lanka to the Transport Ministry of the Russian Federation and the Federal Air Transport Agency for the decision.

“In view of my request as Civil Aviation Minister from the Federal Air Transport Agency to resume Aeroflot flights to Sri Lanka, I have received a letter agreeing that the Aeroflot will resume flights to Sri Lanka from October 9”, the Minister said

He said that the letter has been issued by Vladimir V.Proteskin, the Deputy Chief of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

“It has been emphasized that in order to resume Aeroflot flights to Sri Lanka, relevant institutions should take action to have a continued supply of aviation fuel to Sri Lankan Airlines and in breach of such agreement, the Sri Lankan Government must bear the cost of air fare to a different destination to refuel”.

“After discussions of their request with President Ranil Wickremesinghe as Finance Minister, a letter has been issued to the Federal Air Transport Agency agreeing to the conditions.
