Private bus drivers in Sri Lanka are renowned for their amazingly reckless high speed driving, it is very commonplace to hear of such accidents where innocent passengers lose their lives and suffer injury due to the rush these drivers make to earn an extra penny.

At the same time the irregularity and incompetence of public transport in our country is an understood and accepted fact.

Is it impossible for the leaders of this era of “good governance” to implement and impose rules and regulations to prevent these Private bus drivers running amok with the valuable time and the precious lives of our people in their hands?
