United National Front & Democratic Party Signing MoU Today

The United National Front and the Democratic Party will sign a Memorandum of Understanding at Temple Trees today.

A spokesman of the Democratic Party said the MoU will be signed between the parties at 3pm.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will sign the MoU on behalf of the United National Party while the leader of the Democratic Party Sarath Fonseka will also pen the agreement.

Accordingly with the agreement between the two factions, Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka will be appointed to Parliament next week through the UNP national list.

The UNF parliamentary seat fell vacant after the demise of former Minister of Land M.K.D.S Gunawardena.

Issuing a communiqué the party said, several other alliances have also shown willingness to the join the UNF led coalition.

Several rounds of discussions were held previously between the United National Party and the Democratic Party to appoint Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to Parliament through the UNP national list.
