Consumer Protection Week Begins Today

The Consumer Affairs Authority has named a Consumer Protection Week that comes into effect from today in lieu of international consumer’s day.

The public will receive concessions at 67 institutions including banks during this week.

The Authority said special inspections will be carried out during the week at stores.

Special attention will be focused on prices of goods, expiry dates among other related concerns.

In lieu of the Consumer Affair’s Week, Bakery owners Association  announced that  the price of a loaf of bread will be reduced by 4 rupees this week.

The Chairman of the All Island Bakery Owners Association NK Jayawardene said consumers can enjoy the concession till the 20th of March.

However in line with the increase in wheat flour prices the price of a loaf of bread is due to be increased from next week.
