The Sri Lankan Engineer who was kidnapped and held for ransom in Nigeria has returned to Sri Lanka yesterday (07).
Mr. D. A. Karunadasa a Lankan engineer working for company in Nigeria was kidnapped by masked gunman on his way to work and was held for nearly 10 days before being released.
The gunmen shot down the police officer assigned to guard Mr. Karunadasa also shooting his driver and wounding him in the process.
According to Mr. Karunadasa the kidnappers did not physically harm in any manner and after the first impression of savagery started treating him in a humane way.
Mr. Karunadasa was released and set free after nearly 10 days through the intervention of his place of employment. He then had immediately handed in his resignation and returned speedily to Sri Lanka.
He shared thoughts as to the state of poverty and lack of employment rampant in Nigeria ad blames that for people resorting to such crimes to make a living.
