No Dispute Within the SLFP- President

President Maithripala Sirisena said  that there is no dispute within the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. But there are two groups. One group of SLFP members, who involved in corruption and defrauded are in the process of discrediting the Government, while other  group is following the positive policies of the Party and its vision , the righteousness, he said.

In Srilanka it is impossible to topple a democratically elected  government through a conspiracy and capture power, he said

The President made these observations  during a meeting with the Heads of Media institutions this morning, at the Presidential Palace.

During the course of  discussion the President said  that the  group aligned with the anti government forces  are not working towards ensuring the victory of the party, but are attempting to divert the attention  of investigators and the Public on the investigations that are being carried out against their corrupt activities.

The President noted that intelligence units had informed him the crowd gathered at the Joint Opposition Rally in Hyde Park was 11 900.

Speaking at the meeting, the President said that the former ruler addressing the gathering in Hyde Park, had said, that the judiciary must make note of the numbers present there.

Further he reported to have expressed the reason for calling early election by the predecessor as to avoid facing Geneva,  escape economic doom and on advise given by then treasury Secretary,P.B.Jeyasundara.

President Sirisena went  on to say that the Former President’s statement clearly reflected intended purpose of  such meetings.
