The fire broke out last night yesterday (4) at the laboratory of Moratuwa University, while it was raining heavily in the area. This led to the initial suspicion of lightening being the cause.
But the Moratuwa Fire Brigade said the fire that broke at a laboratory in the Moratuwa University has been caused due to leak of a chemical.
Serious damage was caused by the fire to a section of the laboratory.
