Will Arjuna Mahendren’s Employment Contract Renewed?

Central Bank Governor , Arjuna Mahendren’s contract of employment comes  to an end on 30 th June 2016. The question now raised in Government and private sector forums is whether his employment of contract will be renewed.

Joint opposition and secretary for good governance, Chandra Jeyaratna have requested  the President not to re appoint him for the post in next 6 years. There was a complaint made against him to the Human Rights Commission.

Human Rights Commission has asked him to explain his position on the complaint before 6^th June 2016.

Reports received revealed that the Prime Minister wants to retain his services, but the President is not in favor of re appointing  Arjuna Mahendren’as Governor of Central bank.
