GMOA Request Admission for their Children to 20 Popular Schools in Colombo

The Education Ministry admit children of  GMOA members to popular National Schools. This is done in considering the transferable service doctors render. There are 352 National Schools in the country, which include  schools in the Colombo, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala and Gampaha districts.

The Education Ministry  charges that the GMOA is engaged in an effort to have children admitted to less than 20 popular schools out of 352 national schools.

The ministry has received applications from 160 GMOA members thus far and action has been already taken for providing schools for children of officers who have made fair requests.

Ministry added that most of  GMOA members requests are not fair and also that they have not provided the required particulars.

In the communiqué the education ministry has cited as a case in point several instances like the application by a doctor transferred to Bemmulla in Gampaha , has asked for admission of his child to the Colombo D. S. Senanayake Vidyalaya.
