Don’t Touch on My Military Escort – Gotabaya

After giving evidence in the case related to the attempt on his life by an LTTE suicide cadre, at the Pittala Junction 10 years ago, Gotabaya was speaking to reporters outside the Colombo High Court. He said, thus “I am getting threats from several quarters. There are also reports that some are even conspiring to get rid of me. Even after I quit the post of Defence Secretary, both the President and PM continued to provide the military escort to my security detail. However, I have come to know that recently they had taken a decision to remove the military escort provided to me. Therefore, considering the threats that I am facing, I decided to request the Defence Secretary not to remove the military escort given to my security detail,”

Hence, Gotabaya  had requested Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi not to reduce the military escort provided to him as part of his security detail.

Further,he said, that he was not a politician and that no one had invited him officially to accept any portfolio in the SLFP and that he has no intention to engage in politics in the foreseeable future.
