Where Should be the Northern Economic Center Located ?

In the last budget 200 million has been allocated to establish an Economic Center in the Northern Province.  A dispute has  arisen  as to whether it should be established either in Omanthai or Thandikulam. Under these circumstances, it is alleged some interested parties are involved in establishing  this Economic Center beyond Vavuniya at Madawachchi . Northern  Chief Minister C.Vigneswaran brought  this matter to notice of the President. In the meantime there were widespread talks that, the TNA is divided on this issue. TNA leader, R.Sampanthan dismissed this talk as baseless and said TNA is together in this issue and Chief Minister will take the final discussion about the location.

In the meantime,  a demonstration was held in Vavuniya yesterday demanding  that the Economic Center should be located at Thandikulam . This demonstration  was organized by the Association of  Local Producers in the North. Several organization and politicians participated in this demonstration. However, a final discussion will be taken by the President and the  Prime Minister.
