Sarath Fonseka to be a Member of UNP From Today

Minister Sarath Fonseka formed the Democratic Party in 2013. All Parliamentarians and members of the Democratic Party are expected to join the United National Party following the decision taken by Minister Sarath Fonseka.

Commenting on his decision to join the UNP after an event held in Kelaniya yesterday, Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said he was introduced to the politics arena by the UNP, where all members encouraged him to join the UNP from the 2010 Presidential election.

Minister Fonseka said extensive discussions were held for several months pertaining to the decision to join the party.

Leader of the Democratic Party and Minister for Regional Development Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is scheduled to  to obtain membership of the United National Party from  today.

Membership will be handed over to him by the Party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha.
