Thajudeen Mureder: 10 CCTV Video Evidences Submitted at Colombo Magistrate Court Yesterday

Recordings of the CCTV cameras fixed on Basline road, Kirulappana Junction and Narhenpitta Junction between 2300 hrs on 16th May 2012 and 2 a.m. on 17th May 2012 were submitted at the Colombo Additional Magistrate Court yesterday.
Then Colombo crime Division Police Inspector Wijesinghe required the CCTV camera recordings be kept safely, as he had been placed in charge of Thajudeen investigation.
Followed by this, then Director of Colombo Crime Division (Currently DIG), D.R.I.Ranaweera sent a letter under his signature to the Director in charge of CCTV video recordings.
Under these circumstances it was found that then police inspector in charge of CCTV video recordings had submitted 4 CDs, which was observed by the Criminal Investigation Division. But these CDs were not kept safely by them until they were handed over to CID.   As there were discrepancies observed between the CDs and CCTV recordings by CID, suspicion was created. Hence, CID made an application to the Colombo Additional Magistrate to order the Director in charge of the CCTV recordings to submit CCTV recordings separately.
As a result, these 10 CCTV Video recording evidences was submitted to the court yesterday.
