Arrest of a Man Possessing 25 Kgs of Venison

Deer is a protected animal in Srilanka. Following an information received by officers of the Wildlife Office in Hambantota, an individual has been arrested with more than 25 kg of venison in his possession  at his house in Suriyawewa area in Hambantota.  The person was taken into custody last evening (03).

The suspect has said that the meat was bought for a wedding reception, an official said.  He will be produced before the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court today.
