CCTV Cameras at Vital locations Within & Outside the Parliament Complex.

The government has decided to instal CCTV cameras at vital locations within and outside the Parliament Complex.

Secretary General of Parliament, Dhammika Dasanayake said a report had been submitted to him by Police suggesting the need to instal CCTV cameras at crucial locations both within and outside  the Parliament Complex. He said Police in a report had suggested that since public access to Parliament is allowed when Parliament is in session, it was important to ensure greater security measures in the complex.

Further he said that CCTV cameras will be made a ‘must’ feature in vantage points especially within the public gallery and inside Parliament chambers.
Digital cameras will also be set up shortly besides four clocks since funds had been allocated for this purpose.
