UNP plans to contest at the General Election alone

 

While addressing a press conference, at Sirikotha today (19) Plantation Industries Minister LakshamanKiriella and Education Minister AkilaVirajKariyawasam stated that it was decided to hold a party convention in Colombo prior to the election.

They also stated that the Working Committee of the UNP has decided that the party will contest in the upcoming General Election alone. Another decision that was made was to give party leaderRanilWickremesinghe powers to make appointments to the nominations board.

On the motions of no-confidence filed against the Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, the ministers said they believed the no-faith motions would be withdrawn within the next few days.
