Missing Hambantota Youth Found

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ajith Rohana revealed that the Youth from Hambantota who was reported missing after being taken in to police custody had surrendered to Police through a monk.

G.G Gayashan, a 20-years-old from Bandagiriya, was arrested on September 9 along with two other individuals by the Hambanthota police for allegedly stealing paddy from a warehouse in Hambantota. He went missing afterwards.

Police earlier dismissed the accusations of his relatives that they were responsible for the disappearance. Hambantota Police maintain that the youth fled from police custody.

However, it was later revealed that the police has falsified the police records to indicate only two, not three, youth were arrested.

Four police personnel were suspended earlier today in connection with  the incident.
